Titchfield Haven open day on 24 October for Great Coastal Birdwatch
Bird Aware Solent will help host a free-entry open day at Titchfield Haven on Saturday 24 October 2026 during the Great Coastal Birdwatch.
Bird Aware Solent has announced that this year's Great Coastal Birdwatch will run from Saturday 17 October to Sunday 1 November 2026, and that one of its events is at Titchfield Haven in Fareham borough.
The partnership, which works to protect coastal birds around the Solent, says the birdwatch celebrates the arrival of migratory birds that spend the winter on the coast.
Titchfield Haven open day
On Saturday 24 October 2026, Bird Aware Solent rangers will help host an open day at Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve, on Cliff Road, Fareham. The event page says there will be free entry to the reserve between 10am and 3pm, with free activities for adults, families and children. It adds that the event is weather dependent and asks readers to check the page for updates.
How to take part
Anyone can join in at any coastal spot. Bird Aware asks participants to choose a location, spend up to one hour counting the species they see, and report the results using its data form or by email. It also asks people to follow the Coastal Code, which includes moving away if birds become alert and keeping dogs alongside you. The organisers say their rangers will host dozens of free walks and pop-up events during the fortnight.
The events listing also shows other sessions during the period, including a guided walk on 22 October 2026 at the Western Yar estuary on the Isle of Wight.
