Fareham Market and Railway Station: A Local Guide
Information about Fareham's weekly market, railway station, and the historic commercial heartbeat of the town.
Fareham's market and railway station reflect the town's history as a commercial hub. Both remain active parts of local life.
Fareham Market
Market Days and Hours
Fareham Market runs every Monday, 9am–3pm year-round. The market operates in the West Street precinct with up to 50 stalls selling fresh produce, goods, and local items.
Important note: This is a Monday-only market. It does not run Wednesday or Saturday (that's a different town pattern).
Market History
Fareham's commercial history is rich. The town once had a dedicated cheese market on the High Street, and a cattle market operated on West Street until the 1960s. The current market continues that tradition.
Historic Details
A Henry Cort blacksmith-sculpture trail marks West Street, celebrating the town's industrial heritage and important local figures in engineering.
Fareham Railway Station
Fareham station is served by South Western Railway. It sits on West Street, approximately 15 minutes walk from the town centre shopping areas.
Services: Regular services connect Fareham to Portsmouth, Southampton, and beyond.
Getting to the Station
The station is accessible on foot from the town centre or by car with parking nearby (Station Approach has on-street parking).
